In 1993, when Royce Gracie stepped into the Octagon for the first time, the martial arts world experienced two simultaneous revolutions. Not only was it introduced to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, but also to Mixed Martial Arts (also known as Vale Tudo, “anything goes”). Modern MMA introduced the concept of learning from the best combative arts there are so that a fighter was fully prepared to fight.
